Pierce Brosnan busier than ever after depature from James Bond role

Pierce Brosnan appears to be busier than ever, especially since he stepped down from his James Bond commitments.

On that subject, he said: "It would have to come to an end at some time. It's best to go out this way--on top. They did me a favor. It's better than being yanked off the stage with a wooden leg. Meanwhile, I'm taking some time off replenishing."

The actor spoke to Variety yesterday to to talk about his upcoming projects which will be made under the banner of his production company Irish Dream Time.

His next project to hit screens is "The Matador" which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, a black comedy in which he's a hit man who has a nervous breakdown.

Next up on the slate are three movies, each with very different origins.

"The Thomas Crown Affair II" is currently being written and will be based on MGM's thriller "The Topkapi Affair". Brosnan once said that the first "Crown" movie was so close to perfect he would never make a sequel.

"The Perfect Gentleman" will be sprinkled with some Irish Dream Time magic and dusted down from MGM's backcatalogue. The original 1935 comedy featured a British cast, with the exception of one American character actor, Frank Morgan, and was known in the UK as "The Imperfect Lady".

Thirdly, Brosnan will be hoping to get his long term project "The Legend of Lochinvar" off the ground after having worked on the idea since 2002. The film is based on Walter Scott poem "Lochinvar" and could be set in Scotland.

As for the running order, Brosnan said "We do one at a time when -- and where -- we think it's right,"
