Over 40 Bond fans, scholars and writers toured notable James Bond Bahamas filming locations in a “070707 James Bond Nassau Experience” tour coordinated by Richard and Leslie Skillman of

Extensive access to private residences and resort properties were granted to the tour, which included the Rock Point residence, used for villain Largo’s “Palmyra” in “Thunderball”. James Bond experts recreated film vantage points and film clips were viewed at the site to comprehend the changes to the structure since the 1965 film. “Significant hurricane damage was inflicted on the property several years ago and the owner was gracious to host us here” commented Richard. “He provided access to the pool, beach and “shark pool” areas. There are, at this point, no plans to improve the structures or demolish them. It is a vanishing piece of film history”.

Also, within the tour, highlights included a tour around the Buena Vista Hotel properties, site of the Embassy sequence in “Casino Royale”, a guided tour of the Atlantis Resort and the “Thunderball” breakwater areas, which fortunately, also has resisted the demolition ball.
Skillman added, “The” Never Say Never Again’s” beach side bar has been destroyed although the pilings are still visible in our visit to the British Colonial Hilton. The management was very open in a discussion and review of the new design strategies for the James Bond suite and other hotel rooms.”

The event culminated in an exclusive in-depth guided tour of the One and Only Ocean Club, used in “Casino Royale” for Bond’s encounters with Dimitrios and Solange. The tour visited Bonds ocean villa, the bar/poker room areas, the opulent grounds and finished their stay with martinis and film discussions at the beach bar.
The 070707 event also included significant discussions with Cinemaretro Magazine’s Lee Pfeiffer and Dave Worrall on the current production of “Bond 22” as well as other films produced and lensed in the Caribbean. Skillman also added that less serious activities included Vesper martini mixology lessons, trivia games and a “henchman’s” roast party in the style of the Rat Pack 1960’s to complete the theme event atmosphere.
