Biography
George Lazenby possessed many of the characteristics of
Connery, from his style of acting to his sense of humour.
He was the only Australian to play James Bond and was regarded
by many fans as one of the best. He had many personal problems
during the his due to fact that the publicity was overwhelming.
He was the only son of a railway worker, but lived most
of his life away from home; he left at the age of 15, as
he would not comply with his parent's way of living. He
served four months in the Australian Army, when his service
ended he began work as an apprentice motor mechanic, he
later decided to switch to car selling. Later he met a girl
who stole his heart and shifted to England, he followed,
but to his disappointment was rejected and stranded in England
with next to no money and one torn suit.

When in England he resumed selling cars. While Lazenby
was hawking limousines at a motor showroom, a freelance
photographer persuaded him to try modelling as a career.
This turned out to be one of the best decisions he
had ever made, because within a year he became one
of the highest paid male models in Europe. He was
supposedly earning $40,000 a year and driving an Aston
Martin, he starred in many TV commercials and was
a well-known name in England.

After Connery left the role of 007, it was suggested to
Lazenby that he audition for the role, so he went down to
the same tailor that Sean Connery had used and got a suit
made. He then bought a Rolex, got a haircut to match Connery's,
strolled into Harry Saltzman's office and asked to meet
him.
After earning a significant amount of money, he walked
off the set on completion of the film. The producers had
had more than enough of him. During an interview, Albert
Broccoli was reported to have said he would not work with
Lazenby again "he is a pain in the ass".
