(Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye)
Vehicle: Aston
Martin DB5
Movie: Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye
Owner: James Bond
Status: Active
Perhaps the most famous of all the Bond cars is the Aston Martin
DB5, Bond's first car to be modified and fitted out with a large
array of gadgets. The Aston Martin was to replace Bond's favorite
car - his Bently. Bond was issued the DB5 before the Goldfinger
mission, with a number of features which saved Bond's life several
times.
Use
Goldfinger
The DB5 proved to be very useful for 007 during the Goldfinger
mission, first of all, Bond used the tire slashers to stop Tilly
Masterson, so the two could meet up "by accident". Later
in a high speed pursuit, Bond made use of the oil slick and smoke
screen facilities to run the pursuing cars off the road. Bond
also made use of the retractable shield to block off the enemies
gun fire, after Bond was captured, and allowed to drive the DB5
again with an armed guard in the passenger seat - the ejector
seat. Bond sped away and hit the ejector button, the guard not
having a moment to respond. After another chase, Bond smashed
up the DB5 against the wall, after avoiding an oncoming car, which
in fact was his cars reflection from a mirror.
Thunderball
The DB5 was used before the Thunderball mission, as a getaway
vehicle. Bond escaped a building after killing Jacques Boitier
using the jet pack, and the DB5 was waiting. Bond raised the bullet
proof shield as gunmen approached, and drenched them with the
water cannons.
Goldeneye
Initially Bond used his Aston Martin to race Xenia Onatopp in
her Ferrari, much to the terror of Caroline, his evaluator. After
Caroline ordered Bond to "stop this car at once!", to
which Bond slammed on the handbrake, and popped the clove compartment
to serve Caroline a glass of Bollinger. Later in the mission,
Bond took photo's of Xenia Onatopp's Yacht - The Manticore, with
the digital camera, and uploaded them to MI6. Back in his car
a fax and voice mail were waiting fore him from Moneypenny, identifying
Bond's photographs.
